SEO in San Diego

By admin - Posted on 06 December 2008

It's another beautiful summer-in-December day here in San Diego, CA. Our whole goal with Del Sur SEO is to begin our SEO consulting by serving local businesses in the San Diego area. So, I've been sitting here thinking about what this post should be about, with a title like "SEO in San Diego". Then it hit me: Local Search. I mean, could it be more obvious? (maybe not, but humor me.)

Google's mission has always been to serve results that are *the most relavant* to any given search. Another way to say this is, beyond any technology, Google places supreme importance and pays ultimate deference to the people using their search engine (not the advertisers, link farm spammers, bots, etc.) Local search is obviously a big part of that. Searching for "Plumber" in London should not serve the same results as doing the same query in San Diego, as an obvious example.

Local search is becoming increasingly important to the online success of businesses that rely on local markets to thrive. Matt Cutts at Google recently commented on this issue, partly in response to comments made by well known SEO Bruce Clay. I won't bore you with a recap, so check it out here for yourself:
